Marriage in India

In India, a religious marriage ceremony is considered a legal marriage. However, for Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and Buddhists, the certificate issued by the temple or gurudwara may not be legally sufficient for all purposes. Rather, members of these religions may seek a formal marriage certificate from the Registrar of Marriages. If one of the parties is a U.S. citizen, the registrar may request a “no objection letter” from the U.S. Embassy or Consulate, and also may request proof of termination of any previous marriages, before a marriage certificate will be issued.
If after marrying, new spouse, please contact Their office at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi can be reached by writing to ins.ndi@dhs.gov, or by calling 2419-8506 (begin by dialing 011-91-11- if calling from the United States).

Valid Marriage in India either according to Hindu form of marriage or any other religious form of marriage or even the civil form of marriage which you all call court marriage (under the Special Marriage Act,1954) has provided age of groom should not be less then 21 years & that of the bride 18 years. So wait for 1 year more when she completes her 18th years, then go ahead with your marriage otherwise you will be held liable under The Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929 & face simple imprisonment which may extend to three months and shall also be liable to fine. In case you forcibly marry her in a temple & want this marriage to get registered the marriage registrar shall not register it & ask for proof of age of both of you, once he comes to know you have infringed the provision of the Child Marriage Restraint Act by marring a woman less then 18 years, he will make a formal complaint against you for this offence, then neither your daddy nor her daddy will be able to save your skin. O.K. my dear children.
