I have not started NuvaRing yet and the pharmacy where my doctor sent my prescription is closed today. I am starting my period today (Sunday) and I was supposed to take NuvaRing the first Sunday after my period starts. Can I start it tomorrow instead?

Sure, just use back-up for a week. You can start contraceptives on first day of period, first Sunday, or quick start. If you start on the first day, you'll be protected from the get go. For the other two, you have to wait a couple of days. I personally prefer the quick start method because otherwise, people might forget to start the contraceptive. If the NuvaRing falls out, you'll have a 3 hour window to get it back in or you'll need to use back-up for several days.

If you are sexually active, you might use condoms for a week if inserting it late. It shouldn't be a huge deal, but do this just to be on the safe side. You can call NuvaRing and ask for advice--I've done this before and they were very helpful.

Yes, that'll likely be fine. In the future, though, you'll be risking pregnancy if you insert the NuvaRing late. Since it's your first month, it's not a big deal.

Yes you can insert it tomorrow BUT you must use protection for the next 7 days. Next time try to get it ON TIME so that you wont be risking pregnancy.
