you can remove it up to the six months after. the sherriffs sale is only for the home. although most laws vary by state, the one thing that is for sure is that the sale is only for the house, what you have on the inside, is your personal property.

What 'six months after'? Does your state have a six month redemption period after a sheriff's sale occurs ? If it does, you can probably stay there for nearly the entire six months. If not, I suggest determining the length of the redemption period and planning to move out BEFORE that period expires.
