I am a stay at home mom bored to death. I have already done cross stich, but after awhile it gets old. I was painting ceramics, but my house got full of them and now even if I wanted to paint another one I wouldn't have any place to put it. I already have a scrap book which I work on about once a week. I already read books, but I am still bored out of my mind. I thought about getting a job but then I found out baby number 3 will be here in a few months so now Im back to the beginning. I think nitting might be fun, but I don't have a clue how to even start it. I have been to a few craft stores, but I get lost with all the needles and what not. If you have any ideas for something for me to do please let me know. I am bored out of my mind.

I already play the piano and the guitar. And then right before I had my son I took up sign language. With my husbands work I can't really take a class. He bhas been working 16 hour shifts, and then when he comes home he just wants to sleep. I don't blame him but I have a 1 and 2 year old. I don't really have anybody to watch them either. That is why it sucks. I pretty much just sit at home all day long and clean.

Why not volunteer in your community? Be useful, deliver meals on wheels, read to daycare kids or become a conversation buddy for an immigrant trying to learn English.

Try coin collecting. It doesn't have to cost you a lot. You can go to the bank and pick of a box of coin (whichever denomination you like) for exactly face value. A box of pennies is $25, a box of nickels is $100, a box of dimes is $250 and boxes of quarters or half dollars are $500. You don't have to buy the whole box. The bank can pull out whatever amount you like.

Once you get a box, you can go through and pull out the better coins (there are books to help with this or websites). You can pick up a coin album and try to fill all the holes (get one for each year) or just search for interesting ones.

The coins that you don't want can be returned to the bank and put straight back into your account (though it's often better to return the coins to a different bank (not just a different branch but a different bank) so that you don't search the same coins over and over). Everything you find will have been obtained at face value. You'd be surprised what people have found. Check out these links to see:

Also check your change for interesting finds.

Some things to search for: wheat pennies, silver dimes, silver quarters, old coins, error coins, coins with the "S" mintmark - it could be a proof coin etc. There's always the chance that you could find a real treasure!

It's also helpful to buy a red book. It can help you price your coins and will answer many of the questions you may have.

OR IF THAT'S NOT FOR YOU...

Knitting would be a great one to take up. You get a fairly large sized knitting needle, say a number 10 or 12 and a ball of inexpensive yarn.

Then go to the following website to get your basic instructions: http://knitting.about.com/od/learntoknit/a/begin_knit.htm

My grandmother taught me to knit when I was 8 years old by giving me a set of needles sized 10 and an old ball of yarn. She showed me a simply way to cast on 10 stitches and how to make a garter pattern, which is merely to knit each row. She told me to knit 20 rows and come back to her when I was finished. So that is what I did. She would count the stitches and every time for awhile, I either had more stitches or less stitches and she would find where I had added or dropped the stitches. Then she would rip it all out and tell me to do it again. When I had a consistent product with 10 stitches on the needle, she gave me a simple pattern to follow, teaching me the terms. It was a garter-stitch pair of slippers, very easy. It takes time, lots of time to get good at it.

When you mentioned all the things you had learned, before you mentioned knitting, I was thinking quilting might be what you want to look into, because you can never have enough quilts, and they engage my mind so well that I lose all track of time and reality when I am planning and sewing and quilting, and the finished product is such a lovely addition to my home too, and warms up any bed or wall.

There are lots of quilting sites online. Here is one to get you started: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/acCategory?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&extcat=Quilting&jumpid=ex_r602_go/search-hho-overture-ac-quilt&tafcjnef=fy08&ppc=DSp28423606&OVMTC=standard&OVKEY=quilting&OVADID=2256219522&OVKWID=17862940522&OVRAW=quilting

Find an inexpensive classical guitar and start learning a few chords. If you like music, before long you will get good enough to play some songs, and you will never be bored. It might be fun to get your kids involved too.

You can try knitting or crocheting. You can get learn to kits at WalMart for both. Any good craft store can help you with needles, books, yarn etc. There are tons of websites where you can get patterns, and also instructional videos. You can also try plastic canvas. Good luck.

It is determined by what your pursuits are. Myself I relatively like to observe and play baseball, and I gather baseball playing cards as a interest. My spouse used to gather stamps and cash as a child however now that she's older and we now have a residence, she relatively enjoys house group & redecorating forms of movements. The secret is to to not choose a interest simply to have a interest. Do some thing you revel in, any do it for your self, no longer due to the fact that you consider it is going to make you a few cash. Particularly on the subject of amassing, plenty of individuals get into it due to the fact that of hype and the proposal of constructing tons of cash (for instance, the Beanie Baby craze of the past due-ninety's). Above all, have amusing!

Take a Knitting or Crochet class. You can then make items for local charities such as lap ghans, Hats or mittens. It would give you something to do and also help the community.

Buy a sketch book and pencils and start drawing.

Maybe draw what's around you, like your children.
