LSU should have lost yesterday. They got outplayed and got lucky at the end. Oregon looked solid, beating another top ten team.

Your arguments?

So what you're saying rebshel1956, is that Kentucky and Alabama should feel good about themselves for out playing the best team in the country, which LSU proved in the other 8 games they played?

Wow, LA CJ, shouldn't you be resting up, going over films or your playbook. I'd think that spending a lot of time on Y!A might be part of the reason you looked so bad yesterday... So whats your jersey number?

Yes, I dont understand how a team like LSU, who continues to barely win every game they play could be ranked higher than Oregon. I am an OU fan so i have a hate for Oregon after last years fiasco but they are a great team this year. LSU continues to barely win and continues to get rewarded and praised for it. I thought that the best team in the country should be convincingly winning their games, not winning by the skin on their teeth.

My top 5

1 = Ohio State
2 = Oregon
3 = Oklahoma
4 = Kansas
5 = LSU

Austin M, LSU played and defeated two top 10 teams this season. #9 Virginia Tech 48-7 and #9 Florida 28-24. In addition to this they beat #12 South Carolina, #18 Auburn, #17 Alabama and lost to #17 Kentucky at their house in triple over-time. Oregon and LSU are the two best teams in the country right now and I hope that the question of 1 and 2 is decided on the field on January 7 in New Orleans. Its definitely not gonna be solved on Yahoo Questions. Geaux Tigers!!!!

From a Duck fan.... LSU/Oregon IS the matchup that the rustic needs. in trouble-free terms sixteen factors keeping apart LSU and Oregon. With 22 first place votes, that asserts that the electorate who picked OU, KS & WVU as a #a million picked the geese #2. LSU had greater third or decrease place votes than Oregon. To be sixteen factors out of #a million, the geese are finding tremendously sturdy, enormously via fact that they had a bye. Thier SOS keeps to be even via fact ASU and USC gained, and Mich misplaced. Cal's loss hurts slightly on account that's Oregons in trouble-free terms loss.

well i don't know if they should leap frog lsu but one thing i will tell you is that oregon could hammer ohio state on its worst day. apparantly some of these homers just don't get it but if you look at the top 5 teams and compare schedule and stats oregon is heads and shoulders above 3 of those teams (naturally it cant outrank itself) and is in a virtual tie with lsu. if oregon is not ranked number 1 and it wont be then it should be number 2 but really if you look at the teams it should really be oregon/lsu tied for number one. and if ohio state is truley the number 1 team in the country, i ask again why hasnt it scheduled a home and home series with the ducks as they have requested for the past 10 seasons? bye the way the best championship game ever would be oregon lsu!!

GO DUCKS QUACK DAMNIT!!

Woulda', shoulda', coulda'... If football was decided this way, there would be no need to play any game. It takes a lot of focus for a team to stage a comeback. This has been a crazy season of football. If LSU is going to lose again, they will in the SEC Championship game. But, I see them going to the BCS Championship Game. They've gotten through the core of their schedule very well. I'll tell you what though, it may hurt Oregon not having a PAC-10 championship game. If they did, they would have one more chance to impress the voters before the final ballots are cast. They are a solid 3 right now. Not a bad place to be. All I've seen this year are 1 and 2 teams falling. Let them coast. Who knows what will happen.

The win by Oregon was definitely a "quality win".

It will be interesting to see how the votes change, it's going to be close.

The other issue will be the SEC championship game, if LSU wins out, makes it to the championship, and wins. It will prove interesting.

No, Oregon is a one loss team and Kansas has no losses. Maybe Kansas should raise to #2 with LSU at #3 and Oregon #4.

i agree, defeating a team by fluke is no number 2 team. but also, the polls are always with lsu. i would have loved for arizona state to win and be 2, but oregon would be a great 2 as well

You could also be less cynical and give LSU some credit for winning, managing to see it through to the end while capitalizing on Bama's mistakes. Not enough answerers realize what a meat-grinder the SEC really is, and what Bama vs. LSU meant this year.

I do think Oregon proved itself far more, though, in handling ASU like it did. That was my first chance to really see them in action this year and I was impressed (this from a die-hard SEC snob, too).

Mathematically, I dunno if Oregon will jump LSU right now. Maybe. It'll be damn close. In the end, LSU does have the SEC championship game to give it an extra boost. It'll be interesting to see. I think an Oregon/Ohio State championship game would be pretty fun to watch, though.

Who cares, Michigan is going to put the smackdown on tosu on Nov. 17th so Oregon can play LSU in the NC if they both win out. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see Oregon Kansas at this rate. I think Kansas can beat Oklahoma once and then they'll have their victory. Gotta love a team that runs up the score on sucky ole Nebraska....

Go BLUE!
