"Politicizing this war" That's so hypocritical that you say that among all of this insulting liberals. Instead of showing this and saying, "Look here's good news!" you insult liberals and telling us how we hate America and the troops. Why? Maybe real political discussions scare you.
I love our troops. I have lots of friends in the military and I hope we win. I love America and hate the terrorists. The fact that you don't think that I believe that right off shows how much you distrust other Americans. You claim you love America, yet apparently this country isn't important enough to you to try to UNITE instead of SPLIT. Maybe you'll realize that if you have real discussions instead of just being dogmatic you can actually change minds and look more intelligent. Rather than being just another insultist.
You're right, God bless America. And I'm happy residents are returning home. But don't you dare ever tell me or insinuate that I put down our troops or support terrorists.

Funny thing is, I am a veteran, and here I thought I put my *** on the line for ALL Americans, not just the whiny right!
Too many right wingers don't grasp the concept that you can be against the Iraq war, or against the way King George and company are managing it - but still be very much for the troops; but then, a lot of right wingers love to equate criticizing the government (the present one anyways; past ones are fair game) with being a bad American.
In other words, wingnut, you need to grasp that there is a difference between criticizing the war, and criticizing the troops.

"Part of the inflow can be attributed to stiffening of visa and residency procedures for Iraqis by the Syrian government."
Given that Syria has basically all but shut its doors to newly arriving Iraqi refugees, these people really do not have much of a choice but to return. Also, I would not say that a mere 3,100 families out of the more than 170,000 families displaced from Baghdad is cause for celebration.
"But Azawi said things began changing, becoming more peaceful, in August when radical anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr ordered his Mahdi Army fighters to stand down nationwide."
Thus, a lot of the calm can be attributed to the Shiite militias and Sunni insurgents taking a break from killing each other while they "regroup."
This sudden drop in violence over a relatively short period of time does not constitute complete success. If anything, all the surge did was bring down the level of violence to pre-2006 levels, which were already too high to begin with. Unless there is a sound political solution to the civil unrest (rebuliding infrastructure, reconciliation amongst the ethnic and religious factions, etc.), don't be surprised when sectarian violence goes up again. American troops cannot do it by themselves.

Well, the news of the families going back is great. I am truly being sincere here, but the bad just seems to outweigh the good that's happening here. Every day people, americans and Iraqis alike (civilians and militants) over there. And we always go back to Bush because he was the one that pushed for this! That brought us into it! Just because we want a withdrawl of troops does NOT mean that we dont support them! It means that we'd rather see them come home on their own two feet rather than in caskets. And the line that all the rebublicans pull 'the terrorists will follow us home.'...pretty sure that if they wanted to do something, then they could. US is not to hard to find. So yes, the crime rate is down in one part of Iraq, maybe more, but that doesn't mean that this conflict is ending, or that the US government was right to start this 'war on oil' oops, meant to say terror.

That is good news. The best news would be that our troops are coming home. That, however, is not likely to happen any time in the foreseeable future because Iraq is still a mess.

So, let me get this straight?
We've created the largest humanitarian crisis in history, With millions of refugees moving into Syria and Iran, and because a few families move back, we're all supposed to cheer, and drop down on our knees and praise bush?
As far as the morale of our troops, if you truely did your research, you'd know that 70% of our troops believe the U.S. should get out of Iraq within a year. And the Marines are demanding re-deployment of their forces into Afghanistan where they feel they could do more good, and where they believe our true enemies lie across the border of Pakistan.
No liberal is cutting down the troops...it's the right wing smear machine that has never supported our troops, and the corporate cronies who have made a ton of money off the blood of our soldiers.
This whole cause for your "good news," is more a result of ethnic cleansing...Shiites removing Sunnuis from their neighborhoods, and vice versa....and the millions who have left their nation.
There is no good news about Iraq, except the day when not one single more of our soldiers has to die for the worst foreign policy disaster in U.S. history.
Because a few families move back, because their neighborhoods have been "cleansed," is not good news, but more a result of local tribal chieftans policing their own areas, removing foreigners, and alQaeda elements...the exact blueprint for our withdrawal from Iraq.
Islamic fascism is a minor threat, at best, but you have fallen victim to the shock doctrine of the neo-cons.
Our way of life in America is at far greater risk from the extraordinary economic growth of China and India.
Your vision of the world has been distorted. We need a smarter war against terrorism, and that involves better intelligence, border control. and internationally coordinated police work.
Further escalation of this war, by attackng Iran, is a blueprint for WWIII.
By the way, I'm a veteran, who used to vote republican, until these neo-cons stole our government.

I'm sure that none of the learned liberals on here realize that even MSNBC has to tell the truth once in a while, even if it goes against their agenda. Failure to do so will allow people with common sense and intelligence to point out the numerous similarities between MSNBC and AirAmerica.

simply by fact some Democrats have different hateful emotion pent up against Republicans. they could prefer to precise that hateful emotion of their politics. people who harbor this hate for Republicans at the instant are indignant that Obama is cooperating with a number of them or maybe appointing them to his cabinet. Their hate for Republicans is bigger than their love for Obama.... that factor additionally could desire to have had some impact on Obama's prevailing the election.

"bad news for a liberal and the Liberal media."
For the guy on top of me...NBC is liberal biased and they are the ones reporting it so why is it bad for them. Makes no sense.
People returning back home is a good sign, I just hope its not like Afghanistan that once you leave the town, chaos follows.
Its a very fragile situation there and both sides are hoping for the best.
