This for the older people out there, if you look back at life right now and think about all your good times and bad did you live life to the fullest? maybe something you would change? or how about the saying, "Things always happen for a reason" do you believe that? Would you be a happy person when you die? Did you accomplish everything you wanted to? Maybe something your planning on doing before you die, like a huge dream? Or maybe you always wanted to go sky diving and said 20 years ago you would but haven't yet?

I mean we all do stupid stuff and I do believe we do it for a reason. Thats what keeps us learning. And if I think about it, I always think about how I chose one part of my life when I could of went the other way, for example, I had a choice between two different careers, what if I chose the opposite way than I did. Then I would of never met my husband and my life would be nothing like this at all. I always wonder what would of happened to my life.

No, to all of your questions, except the one about being happy when I die. I won't be anything when I die, but dead.

Yeah...even the mistakes! How do you become a whole person if you haven't experienced the ups and downs? How do you grow if you remain in a dormant stage? I believe we have the ability to change...that because you opt for a career at 18 does not mean that is a lifetime choice, only a stepping stone to the next phase! What an adventure life is. You know the song, "I hope you dance", by Faith Hill? Well, I hope you dance and never stop as long as you're able! Grandma

I cannot tell you how happy I am when I look back at my life
so far. I've done every single thing I've ever wanted to do
except dance with the ABT...short neck...I've travelled the
world, had some fabulous lovers, eaten some memorable
meals and rocked my fanny off at every opportunity. I've
stayed free and true to a dream I had at 10..... of floating
around, unencumbered and zooming down to partake of
earthly pleasures. I've stayed clear of marriage and
children and am certain this was the right path for me.
The only thing that's still left to do is open an animal
shelter for strays, which I'm looking forward to so much.
Life has been very good to me, but it's because I said
no to mediocity, even though it would have been more
comfortable at times.

Things do happen the way they do for a reason. There are many things that I regret about my past, but if I hadn't gone through them, would I be the person I am today? I doubt it. Your experiences shape who you are. At the end of the day, when my time is up, I want people to say that they knew they were loved by me, and then I will have had a successful life.

For most people.

a retrospection if done totally, shall not be very comfortable. but the human mind is a fine thing, it remembers the good things, and tries to avoid unpleaseant things. thus, when one retrospects, one entertains only those happy and good things.

but philosophically, if one is able to count on all those things went on, then the negatives shall be much more than the positive aspects. And this makes Buddha right in saying that "life is full of suffereing".

I can't know if I had chosen differently if things would be better, worse, or about the same as they are now. So, I don't waste any time pondering pointless scenarios.
