(2) "Okay, okay, true or false........ I'm in DEEP trouble? " I asked the boss Friday when I got to work an hour late. And, of course, I was.

I tried the old excuse about my metabolism illness. Yea, the story about how my slow metabolism causes me to be late for everything because my body clock is messed up. He usually accepts that excuse (6) (that is what I call the triumph of imagination over intelligence) but not this time.

(3) "This has NOTHING to do with your crazy metabolism so don't even TRY telling me that!!" was his answer this time. "(1) Why is that your answer to everything? " he asked. "Can't you show any responsibility. " It didn't sound very promising for me. I figured he was going to can me for sure this time.

"Oh, sorry" I said, "I meant to say -I promise I will never be late again. " But in disgust he said (10) Awwwww........ Tell it to the Marines, if you already haven't. " I hadn't told the Marines yet, but was willing to if it would help me keep my job.

He was very reluctant to give in until finally I said to him "If I am late once in the next six months, you can fire me on the spot and I won't say a word" Luckily for me, he relented but warned me that even if it was the last day of the six months, he would fire me on the spot if I was even a minute late.

Thank goodness this happened Friday, because the time change (you know turning the clocks back in the fall) gave me an idea. Now I will never be late. In fact, I may earn some brownie points for being early. Last night, instead of turning the clocks back one hour, I turned all mine ahead one one. Now I should be two hours early for most things..and even with my slow metabolism, should at least be on time.

I don't know how amusing this one is but I am in a rush to watch football today. LOL

I hope somebody can top it.
