I want to be able to place my photos & music on one and I don't want to get one with way too much room or one with not enough room.

First:
200 songs and around 300 photos. How many GB do I need for that?

Secnd:
How many would I need for 50 songs and 100 photos?

1.Assuming that the songs are of .mp3 format and the images to be .jpg format, you will need a 4GB flash drive.

2.1GB will probably be enough, but 2GB will be a better option.

First, it does depend on how big the files are. But, with USB drive prices going down every day, why worry about hoe big it is? I have a 2 GB and have 100 songs, portable apps suite, and a bunch of stuff from class. On top of that, I have about 5 or 6 setup files for a lot of really good apps that I use everyday and I let everyone else use since they are all free. All of this takes a little less then a GB.
So, more then likely, a 2 GB would work for what you need, but what if you want to add more, or add other stuff not planned on? Here is a link to a 4 GB flash drive for $38 + shipping. Like I said, prices are going down every day so take advantage of it right now.

Depends how big the photos files are and the same for the songs.

Basically look on your hard drive where the files are stored, select all the folders you need (hold control while SINGLE clicking the folders) then right click and select PROPERTIES it will give you total size of the folders.

P.S. I simply go for biggest I can get, so currently I have a 4G . . .

Buy next size up.

Afraid your question is like asking "How long is a piece of string ?"

The physical size of the stick is the same for 512KB, 1 meg, or 2 meg. so go by price per byte.
Are you saving you songs as mp3s or wav files? there is a big difference in the size of these files. Pictures can be 10 KB each or 3meg each or anywhere in between.

First
about 3-2 gigs
Second
about 2-1 gigs.
Choose higher to be on the safe side. Depends on how high quality, how large a frame, how long a song.

It depends on the size of your pics...but in my opinion, go with the 2gig USB stick because it holds a lot
