more deets on the movie that i can remember is that he had a teacher and they ppl in the helicopter couldnt bring both of them up but tom refused to let go of him so the guy took off his glove and fell into the ocean and it was really sad

The movie is "The Guardian" (2006).
It stared Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher.
Tom Cruise was not in it.

I was a fan of Tom Cruise and have seen most of his movies, I can not remember him being in a movie where he is saving people from sinking ships. Do you know anymore details of the movie? You can go to www.imdb.com and search all the movies that Tom Cruise has been in.

Are you sure it was Tom Cruise? The only films of his that I can imagine this might have been in are the Mission Impossible movies. I only saw the first one and don't remember much of that.

I stopped watching Tom Cruise movies after seeing him jump around like a fool on Oprah's show...now that I know how crazy he is, I am turned off from watching him. Sad, actually.

I'm not sure, either. But, I was in a similar situation with an Arnold S. movie. So, I typed his name in my search field and ended up finding the movie. You might want to try that. Good Luck.
