A tune up is a important part of keeping a car dependable. The way cars are manufactured today with all the electronic components, the most you can do as far as a tune up would be to be sure that the oil is changed on a regular interval, all fluid levels, air and gas filters changed at proper intervals, plug wires are in good shape and not cracked, new plugs if necessary. In many cases with today's complex engines, ignitition timing and idle settings are not adjustable. Check belts and hoses for cracks, damage, check tires for proper inflation to achieve good gas mileage.
