My mazda 1998 is giving some trouble, it has 200,000 KM's on it and well the problem is that when driving on the highway i brake and not just the steering wheel but the WHOLE van seems to shake, everything works fine until I brake, but the its shaking. any suggestions....

P.s i jus got brand new ball joints installed 4 months ago... dun know if that'll make any difference

Sounds like your rotors are warped. Check the runout with a dial indicator.

Full Brake Job with Drums & Rotors Turned if not Replaced! Complete Brake System Check From the Brake Booster on Down to the Wheels. (Brakes are Overly Toughy!)

get ne rotors for the front brakes.
they are not running "true"
they vibrate and grab when you brake. new rotors . I suspect there is no use in having them " turned" down or "'trued up" .l because they are too old.
then get some new brake pads while you have it taken apart good luck. Ps if you feel it in the steering wheel. its the front brakes if not maybe the back brakes. doesn't cost too much if you do it your self.

if it fumes something it has to consume, if the oil is fine then it must be burning water so..... you may have a blow gasket or even worst a cylinder or the cyl head and that is not an exaust problem
