The movement for suffrage had begun at least 80 years before the war, but the useful service of female workers during WWI was among the motivating factors for granting unmarried women over 30 the right to vote in 1918. It was not until 1928 that all women over 21 were allowed to vote, so WWI experience was not an immediate cause of that total suffrage.
