In "The Matrix" Trilogy, I saw in the discussions Neo had with the Oracle that the Oracle was a program(created by the machine world) in the Matrix. So she was not a living human being plugged into the Matrix.

But at the end of the third movie, Matrix Revolutions, after the people of the world were freed from the Matrix, I saw the Oracle sitting on a park bench in the real world watching the sunrise.

Only a living human being could exist outside the Matrix. If she was just a program in the Matrix, how could she have been sitting on a park bench in the real world? Can anybody help me make sense of this?

Many thanks,
C.L.

To my understanding Neo sacrificed himself for humans and machines changing the way the matrix operated and freeing humans who no longer wanted to be plugged in. What you see in the end is the new matrix world.

No, you've misunderstood it. Once Neo had freed the Matrix from the control of the machines (by killing Agent Smith), the Matrix could resume being what it had been; a synthetic replica of the real world. Which means it could do things like reflect what the world should have been, e.g. green grass and blue skies.

The scene at the end of the movie is done by the little girl, who reprogrammed the world to show a sunrise, and a park, and a sky.

What you were seeing was the matrix, not the real world; remember, the real world was still 'scorched' with cloud cover. (Neo's ship had to fly over it to get to the sky).

actually they are still inside the matrix, the world has just been reset. think about it a little closer.. where are they going to get a park bench and beautiful city that's not covered in machines in the real world..

and also think about the deal that neo made with the machines.. that he would stop a program that's broken free of it's original design or something

They were still inside the Matrix. The sun was still covered. All Neo accomplished was beating the Matrix to allow those who wanted released to do so. He had no control over the earth and could not make the sun shine again. If you remember, Trinity and Neo only saw the sun when their ship went above the blackened clouds.

the park bench where the woman is sitting is not in the real world.. that is inside the matrix..
in the movie, the real world is the chaotic place where the machines rule. the matrix is like the place we live in today.

They are still in the matrix! watch the thrid film again ( i know it's poor compared to the rest but sometimes you just have to do things that you don't want to) and you will see that the world doesnt get destroyed so the oracle still exists along with everyone else inside the matrix.

ignorance is bliss :D

It wasn't the real world, it was still the matrix. It was however a representation of Change. It was also said by the little girl, that she drew it herself.

She was not in the real world, she was in the "redrawn" virtual world. The real world is a wasteland, with only the underground city.
