Well, Article 3 of the Lesbian Contract says "Thou shalt not eat meat" (after "Thou shalt be obese" and "Thou shalt own at least one cat"), but most of the lebians I know do eat meat and haven't yet been kicked out of the club for breaching the contract.

There's not a book of rules to being a lesbian, it's simply about being a woman who desires members of their own sex. Lesbians are vegans and meat-eaters, right wing and left wing, rich or poor, black or white.
Perhaps your mate is referring to a stereotypical view of Lesbians as living in communal, hippy-left circumstances. That is a cliché with little relevance to the lives of the majority of women who identify as lesbian.
