what do record labels really look for before they sign an artist. Is ther a person who can help you get a record deal

I would say the label looks for people they feel can market the kind of music they feel they can sell records with.

Sounds like a sellout answer, but it's true. The record execs pitch your songs for advertisers, big corporations, big charities and people in charge of major public events. You have to fit their mold to get in. That's why YOUR integrity is the most important aspect.

Get exposure by playing everywhere that will have you. Once you get a following, release an independent cd and sell it at your shows and at your website. You don't need a deal to sell your own stuff. If you sell big enough numbers, they will notice.

basically they look to see if the artist will sell well and make money. if they are mainstream.
