Helen,

If this was a registry scan, that simply means you have 1500 references that are incorrect, often being items that were created by actions such as moving a file from one place to another while that file's location is also referenced elsewhere. This is very normal. If you've done a search for a file, then moved that file later, the search results reference then becomes invalid.

It's good practice to do some light PC 'housekeeping' every week or so; this will keep your system running faster and decrease the chances of things really getting out of whack.

Keep those temporary internet files emptied regularly, of both cookies AND objects, including offline content. Definitely use an anti-spyware application along with your anti-virus. In Windows systems, check your drive's need for a defrag session weekly by using the Analyze option: Windows will say you don't need to Defrag until it hits around 14%; I run mine when volume fragmentation gets above 8-9%.

A registry repair/cleaning tool (purchased, not a free online) should also be used; the frequency depends on your own usage. Moderate usage may only require twice a year where monthly is better on systems seeing heavy surfing and add/removal of programs.

When doing a registry clean-up, first manually look at what you have and delete/remove anything you're done with. Then run your registry cleaner, followed by a full system Defrag, and then do a Back-up of your cleaned system.

Back to your immediate concerns, take a look at the descriptions of these invalid entries; if they primarily refer to incorrect links or files not found that refer to document or text files that you may have written then moved/discarded, you've nothing to be concerned about as this is quite normal in the course of things. Always choose to have the program create a backup before making repairs and you'll be quite safe in telling your registry cleaner to fix these things.

Ads, Spyware, Flash Game Sites, Download Illegally sites, Torrents, Warez, Porn Sites, downloaded and uninstall things but elements were not removed, cookies that travelled, and more possibilities, use cleanup utilities 2007 :) has over 20 features, most of them cleans and optimizes for free.

Never use registry fixing programs, they usually pop up stuff, fake, or just a lame free-trial for scanning, unless you pay, so stick to software with extras like that, now clean your ActiveX, with an anti-spyware.

It would help to know what scan you did that turned up 1500 invalid entries...there are lots of ROGUE antispyware apps and "registry cleaners" that give grossly exaggerated reports on the state of your machine in order to lure you into buying what turns out to be a useless (or worse) product.

So if you repost this or add a comment, please tell us what you scanned with.

some scanners are programmed to scan non important
entries just to catch the user's eyes and pretend that they are doing things very precised so do what heebus said first

This is normal..I got that too..Simply visit this Microsoft webpage ..they provide free full service scan and also tune up your computer..Microsoft scanning tool will detect these invalid entries and delete it for you..Don't worry.
