Does everything have to be all offense? Why? What about truly great Defenses? Is that to be a thing of the past?

Because the QB's like Manning and Brady are the NFL's meal ticket. If they get hurt,,there goes their star power. That's why you don't see holding called on the Patriots and the Colts, and an utter miracle that Brett Favre of the Packers holds so many records, after basically running for his life for 16 seasons!

Thats so not true. Those damn refs call offensive holding almost 20 times a game when the Ravens are playing. Maybe they call it on some teams more then others. Great defenses is a thing of the future because now they have the cards stacked against because almost every rule favors the offense now.

Your question is slanted to suggest that offenses get away with murder while defenses get ticky-tack fouls. To be honest, the ticket counter and TV revenue is still the main reason why leagues get formed, and the NFL knows high-power scoring offenses turn gates and power buttons on TVs.
The purists love their defense the way I do, but the bottom line is still the almighty dollar and the click of the scoreboard. Until a defense scores as much as LaDainian Tomlinson and Randy Moss, it's still an offensive man's world.

They do get away with a lot of holding. It's hard to tell where the line is drawn. As for offense, low scoring defensive games tend to be boring. It is basically entertainment, so offense sells.

If you ask me, I think they are calling holding penalties too much. It seems like the refs are calling the penalty anytime a defensive player falls to the ground.
