Women should wait 6 weeks after intercourse because there is a high risk of infection and pregnancy. Some doctors(like mine) say you shouldnt have sex, thugh i did at a week after. Nothing really happens, as long as you use protection. Less chance of baby. Though the stuff on the condom may irritate you....

nothin would happen to you unless there's a good reason for abstaining ie stitches its because after birth you bleed for approx 2 weeks because you haven't had a period in nine months and the womb is shedding the material that supported your little bundle of joy. Doctors will only prescribe contraception after or around your first normal period but in the mean time you can still be highly fertile and could get preggers again. therefore prob best to exercise caution and either not do it but if you do use a barrier method contraceptive eg condom

I think the stiches are still in and you are still healing at 6 weeks. 4 weeks might be too soon, but its your body and you should do what you are comfortable with. Just be careful though, it would seem like it would be easier to get an infection or tear the cut open again. I would imagine its also painful until you are fully healed.

Depends on the woman and her body..Its best to wait as long into the six weeks as possible..for infection maybe possible..if the uterus hasnt had enough time to go back to its original shape...I did it before the six weeks w/ all three of my pregnancies..at four weeks..It depends on how she feels after giving birth..and if the lochia has stopped (the bleeding after giving birth...Its like having a "six week Period.." to make up for the whole nine months of not having one..lol..I have a friend that did his wife after two weeks after giving birth.nothin came about like infection or anything..but "six weeks" is what they give to everything if you noticed..lol...like for example having a vasectomy or a reversal ...They make the man wait for six weeks. Its just popular..."six weeks"..lol..
Also if the womans had an eposiotomy, vaginal laceration, rectal tear that requires stitches have to wait roughly three weeks because intercourse can cause pain..I had a tear inside from my first son...then along came my second sixteen months later and finished the job..Ive never had the above just torn in inside of my vaginal wall right side..It hurt when I first did it...We had to go slow..:(( but when the first time was through..It all went back to normal..if ya know what I mean..lol...;)) so Good Luck to ya ..hope I answered allright..and you got some info outta it..God Bless...;))On youre new baby...;) and CONGRATS..!!

Wait till you have given birth!
As said above it is only a recommendation, and most new mums (and dads) are too tired to do it for the first few months anyway!
If you have had stitches it will take a couple of weeks to feel normal again too.

Apart from all the reasons already said, most women bleed fo 3-6 weeks. Who wants to have sex while bleeding?
I bled for 9 months after my daughter, tore bad so still so very sore even at 10 months.

,6 weeks is only a recommendation...if your body feels ok and so do you give it a go...ease into it slowly if it doesnt feel right stop and try again another time. 6 weeks is ment to be the time it takes your body to get back to normall but everyones body is diff plus it also depends on the type of labour you had.

Well, I'm no doctor, but it might have something to do with the fact that the woman just pushed a watermelon out of herself. I'd imagine that engaging in intercourse earlier than the recommended time period would elicit screams of "G'AAAAAH! Did you dip your dong in nitric acid or something??!!" instead of "Ooooh, GOD! Yes! Yes! More! More!"

I think that it is only a recommendation. You might find that it is a bit uncomfortable if you have sex to early. My partner and I had sex about 5 weeks after our daughter was born and it was still a bit tender down there

The 6 weeks is to give the opening to your uterus to close. Also you are very susceptible to infection and getting pregnant at this time.
