My expected date based on my last LMP or LAst menstrual period is on NOvember 14 and based on my Ultrasound result, it will be on November 24...Which is more accurate? This is my first baby and I'm very excited already.

Good question!!! I'm having this trouble at the moment. To me going by my lmp I'm due on 20/4/07 and by ultrasound im due 1/5/07. I'v had 5 ultrasounds before 15 weeks due to bleeding and they have all been around 1/5/07, but not all the exact date. But for me that's wrong. I know when I ovulated. I would rather go by my dates. I'm worried about going over. Say I go 2 weeks over, have the baby and then they say, "oh you were right." and something happens to the baby from being over due?!?!?!?! Either way the hospitals HAVE TO go by the ultrasound dates. I hope it all goes ok for you and your baby

Well the earlier the ultrasound the more accurate it is but LMP is usually the most accurate as it determines to a day when your last period was then counts forward 280 days to give you a due date. I believe LMP is more accurate as growth differences in babies can give incorrect due dates the further along the scan was done. If it was before 12 wks (when most babies grow at the same rate) then it could be more accurate than the LMP.

That probably sounds really confusing but here is a link that may be of help to you.....

Best of luck

My ultrasound was more accurate. By my LMP is was told 23 June by ultrasound it was 30 June but I didn't have her until the 11 July after being induced. I wish that they had gone by my LMP because I wouldn't have had to carry her so long

regrettably, the two procedures of determining due dates are only estimates. Ultrasound is extra precise than LMP if the ultrasound is carried out around 10 weeks. regardless of if, even which could in common terms provide you an expected due date because of the fact babies enhance at distinctive costs. If it facilitates, I conceived my son by using IVF, so we knew his real date of concept right down to the hour, and as quickly as I had my first ultrasound the tech wanted to alter my due date based on the ultrasound until eventually I instructed her how the child became conceived and that we knew the real date of concept. So it extremely is not very precise -- it extremely is only the terrific gadget available on the instant.

I have 6 kids and from experience I would go by your dates not the ultrasound. With my first the ultrasound date was way out. I was induced 2 1/2 weeks past my date but only 6 days after the u/s date. My o/b said it was lucky we didn't wait any longer as he was way past due. He was so dry and had lost weight as my placenta was used up. You know your body and your cycle better than anyone else!!!

Well with my last two babies my Ultrasound said Sept. 28th and Dec. 27th, they were both born on the LMP due dates which oddly enough were the 21st of those months. Honestly, the baby will come when it is good and ready..... or you decide to induce or go c-section.

i think its a bit of both. when i went for my scan i was classed as 11 weeks and 5 days. but the ultrasound actually shown 11 weeks exact. my hospital has a policy of changing the due date if the difference between the LMP dates and ultrasound are over 5 days different. mine wher just on 5 so they didnt change it. im due feb 13th according to my LMP, however the scan says im due 18th feb.. this means if i dont have him on the 13th they will still class me full term untill im over the 18th of feb..then ill be classed as over due

I would say the ultrasound result, especially if you got an early ultrasound, they are pretty accurate.
