Me and a buddy of mine are thinking about moving from Kansas City to San Antonio or a city in Texas and SA is our top choice because we have visited once for business. I am planning to move down there so I can transfer to a college nearby (UT) which I know is in Austin. During the time I was down there I didn't experience too much of the culture and life of SA. So if anyone could provide some or a lot of info about San Antonio that might make us more eager to want to move down there that would be great. What I'm really looking for is personal opinions and views of San Antonio.

Note: I have looked at a bunch websites but none that give opinions about how people feel about San Antonio so that's why I'm asking here.

Thanks.

If I was planning to go to UT in Austin, I would not live in San Antonio. That is not because I don't like San Antonio, because it is my choice of Texas cities to live in. But instead, due to the fact that the traffic traveling to Austin would be horrible. Austin, is also a lovely city. It has many nice features, and for many people is considered preferable to San Antonio. The climates are very similar, but the cultures are different.

Austin has the feel of a more west coast type city, and has a lot of live music venues. The city planners try to keep the green belts more than in San Antonio, and it is in the Hill Country instead of on the edge.

San Antonio, has a more Tex-Mex feel with a stronger hispanic influence. There is more tourism, and more entertainment activities, but the club scene is not as active.

If you wanted to live in San Antonio, there are several colleges and universities in the city, including UT San Antonio.

I have lived all over Texas and in most of the major cities at one time or another. San Antonio is my preferred major city.

Well buddy I can help you out here a bit. First things first San Antonio is a city of hospitality and friendliness. You say you come from kansas, so you know how the small city atmosphere is. San antonio is so similar to that nature. Although San antonio is ranked as the tenth largest city in the united states, our people are very much from a small city. We're home to the 4 time champion NBA spurs, and our city bleeds that literally. WE LOVE OUR SPURS. "GO SPURS GO!". Next most people and tourists that visit say San antonio has some of the best food they have ever come to eat, Mexican. Next is the night life, San antonio has alot to offer in the night life. Obviously our city revolves around the river walk, but art, culture, fiesta, are some of the options that are offered here in San antonio. Next is the cost of living. You'll find that living in Austin is a bit more costly and maybe a bit harder to fit in an apartment or house comfortably. Sorry I can't provide more for you but it's getting a bit late, just came from drinks on the riverwalk. LOL, so I'm gonna get to bed, hope you make the right choice, Welcome home when you get here.

I lived in San Antonio in the early 60s. My niece lives there now. It has a solid in between moisture point. in case you're from El Paso, Arizona, New Mexico you need to locate San Antonio humid. in case you're from Houston, deep East Texas, any of the southern states on the Gulf Coast, you will locate San Antonio has a extremely dry climate. there is adequate moisture for some greenery yet no longer the luxurious greenery of the greater humid rain crammed factors. there is usually a threat of flash floods there. because of the fact that's extremely a roving hilly section that's many times a issue on the backside of the hills. easily San Antonio has a solid southeast breeze. After dark in the summertime, that's going to nevertheless be in the 90s yet because of the decrease humidities and that southeast breeze that's extremely delicate. a similar is authentic in case you're in the coloration in the process the summer time. yet once you reside out in that sunlight very long in the summertime it may dehydratee you exceptionally speedy. I went to San Antonio for the period of hurricane Ike. sometime whilst the typhoon become out in the gulf that they had a damp day. Then the typhoon went yet another direction and it become very dry and delightful.

I would say try to live in Austin if you are planning on going there. The drive from SA to Austin is getting ridiculous. Secondly Austin is the better place to have fun. San Antonio is conservative and also touristy oriented. Austin as many will tell you more diverse and liberal.
