I make a point of passing this on to other women. My OB/GYN told me years ago that she had been involved with a study of bladder and kidney infections. The final consensus was that women have a higher rate of not only infections, but also cancer than do men. The reason cited was that women tend to hold their bladder for the "socially acceptable moment," whatever that means. Men will make a urinal at the side of your neighbor's garage during a BBQ party if there is a bathroom line. I readily concede that the logistics of a man urinating in unorthodox places is not only simpler, but more socially acceptable at this time. Silly, isn't it, that women are thought unfeminine if they chose to relieve themselves with the same freedom as men? The belching and fanny burps, {just heard that one from an Aussie,} are considered rude in most company, but I am sure someday a study will show that again men faired better with upper and lower digestive tracts than did women because they let it rip. I lived through the sixties and I had a girlfriend that refused to hold back. I saw her at a class reunion this past summer. She managed to impress the crowded lounge with her refusal to conform. She is straight as an arrow, but I must say she looked very comfortable and younger than most of the women. Twice she did lean over to me in front of witnesses and "whisper" loudly, Shhhh! We'll pretend that I did it! By the second time, I was laughing so hard I didn't care.
I have horses and trust me, they will drown out any feeble natural function of man or woman. I still do believe that some restraint should be used by men and women, if for no other reason than consideration for others. Old habits die hard, and you may find yourself in a work situation that unpleasant odors and disruptive noices may be unacceptable. You could always plan a career around horses.
I apologize for such a long answer. Apparently I felt a need to relieve myself of some pressure.
Edit: Did you boys follow me in here for a cheap thrill? This is a matter of equality of health issues. You are both in a poor position should any overwheming urge strike me. I refuse to compromise my health. I will however give the customary warning of "Pull my finger."

tomboys aren't always gay. I copped a lot of slack from boys bc i could bowl better than them, run faster, kick further, bat for longer ect ... so they were always calling me bad names and throwing rocks at me and bullying me a lot. Didn't help me to like them very much. I think they are insecure, and so are other girls big time, bc they feel inferior to you. This gets better when you get older tho. Like what a lot of the others have said, just do things your way and don't put up with other people's issues.

Listen, everyone passes gas regardless of direction.
It's a matter of manners vs. rudeness.
I know many a "butch" lesbian that seem to have more manners than many of the straight "girlie-girls" I've had the displeasure to meet.
Rude behavior isn't attractive regardless of who it's from.
It's not so much "perfection" but rather being polite.
Whatever happened to being polite?
Has it gone the way of "Customer Service" actually being ABOUT THE CUSTOMER?
The casual "Please," "Thank you" and "Excuse me" seem to be lacking from too many individuals vocabularies.
I believe "reality television" has a lot to do with how rude society is becoming, that and the "Dumbing Down of America."

Girls PERFECT! No one in this world is perfect. If we were all perfect then there would be no crime, war, greed, farts or burps and NO NAME CALLING.
By calling you names, it's like "they" are farting in church. If this is all about "girls" being perfect, forget the perfect. Just be yourself, not like all the name callers who don't know what they're talking about anyway. So I would say they are not so perfect them selfs, now are they! They're all poops!

I know...I always have felt that way. I guess because society makes the "rules" of what is acceptable and not acceptable. It's all a bunch of garbage to me and it upsets me. Men and women are alike and should be able to burp, fart, have tatoos, etc. without being criticized in one way or another.

Tomboys aren't always considered gay. Girls think they have to act perfect to beat out the competition for a guy.

Stop worrying about what these other people think. Be the happiest person you can be. Let them have their idea of what's perfect. Kids in school are the cruelest.
You could always offer them something to eat that will make them belch or fart. lol

This is not a gender issue...It's an issue about classy behavior-whether you're male or female. People, in general, prefer to be around people who do have some manners and class. It's one thing to laugh about it--once in a while, but to be around it all of the time reeks of deep immaturity.....

I was going to say men should be more like women when it comes to certain bodily functions, but Eagle Woman's answer kind of blew my answer out of the sky.
