I believe that when someone turns 18 yrs old, (well, maybe 21), they are grown! I can offer my opinion and advice, IF ASKED! But, why do other people insist on trying to make other people ADAPT to their opinions and viewpoints? Grown folks are gonna do exactly what they want to do? Why can't others accept that??

Many adults think they can force people to listen to them and it’s a mistake that does not produce good results, but alienates. Persuasion should be deployed instead to bring about a desired result. If the other person cannot be convinced over a reasonable amount of time then it should be let go.
In my life time, I have changed my mind several times on things not because someone forced me to, but had persuaded me in terms that were appealing and logical.

well, it has been a long time conflict. Now at your age (well, i don't know how old are you. just assuming) you are asking this question, but it may happen in future that you will do the same thing. Anyway, it is certainly not fair. If somebody is 21 years old, he or she must has gathered some knowledge or experience so far. So his or her opinion or suggestion must have some value someway or the other. But you must understand one thing that the older person has more knowledge and experience than you. He or she has seen more. Perhaps a thing seems to you very interesting and attractive from your point of view but you have not seen its consequences what that older person has. That's why he or she tries to restrict you from that.
If I begin to explain, it will be en epic. However, It has been happening and it will keep on happening in future. Don't worry. You have to go on with it.

I think older people feel that they have had life experiences that would help younger persons. I know that sometimes I try to talk with my daughter (age 22) about things and express my opinion to her over experiences I have had growing up and not wanting her to make the same mistakes and feel the same pain or suffer the same misfortunes. Sometimes she listens to me, sometimes she doesn't. I'm never insulted by that though.
