My 5 week old son has been diagnosed with infant reflux and milk/soy protein allergy by his doctor. He is on nutramigen Formula and Zantac 3 times a day.. the crying and hurting has improved but he is still spitting up ALOT... Iv heard that as long as he is gaining weight and he is not in pain then the throwing up really isnt a problem... BUT it also comes out of his nose and THAT scares me because im scared he is sucking it back into his longs and im scared he will get breathing problems.. Should i worry, or is that not really a problem?

My Daughter had the Same problem when she was that age. So I started putting a teaspoon full of RICE baby cereal in her bottle everytime that i mixed it up. It Helped ALOT. Of course she still spit up some. But it wasn't Half as Much as it was before i did that. I REALLY Recomend that you try it! You Will see him getting better with in the same day. I Hope This Helps you, and good luck!

I wouldn't recommend giving a 5 week old rice cereal mixed in a bottle, a 5 week old infant is not ready to digest that. my daughter was 7 weeks premature and spit up A LOT, like you described, just keep that nasal aspirator near by and clear the nose after wards, keeping her in a semi-upright position right after feeding should help as well. At night we rolled up a blanket and placed it under her crib mattress at one end to keep her elevated, which eased my stress that she may do that when i'm not right there.
Good luck and she'll grow out of it soon!

this is normal because of the air that he is getting by drinking in the bottle of by your breast.. dont worry. they will overcome the spit up by 5 or 6 mos of age

As long as you are cleaning out his nose it is OK. Use the snot sucker (Nasal aspirator) to make sure his nose is clear. I have done this when I have the flu and have gotten sick and you just have to clear the passages.

umm, I don't have any experience with babies but I know you should always make sure he has an open airway--- maybe position him on his side when sleeping. Give your pediatrician a call in the am and as him about it.
