My son is 4 months. The pediatician had me start him on cereal due to Acid Reflux.Within the past week it has gotten alot worse. It seemed like the first week he did alot better, but now the projectile vomiting has gotten worse,he screams & cries all day long instead of just during & after feedings. He never offically tested him for it.I know thats what it has to be.He vomits(projectile)with every feeding, cant hold still while eatting, screams & cries during burping and after eatting, not keeping really anything down, all day long he is fidgity, fussy, cranky, crying & screaming. He pulls at his face and arches his back, gas(colic)he's almost impossible to hold, its almost like he's trying to throw himself. Its been a nightmere, from the day he was born, everyday has been like this. They kept telling me it was colic, but Im pretty sure its Acid Reflux.Monday he has a app.,so Im going to tell the dr. to start him on some kind of meds.

PLEASE HELP!!! I need advice from experienced Mom's with Acid Reflux. Please share your opinions and thoughts. It sounds like Reflux, doesnt it?? How do the meds work?? What kind works best with the least side effects. I just wish I would have known earlier on. The pediatrician and everyone else thought it was colic. But within the past 3 weeks it has gotten extremly worse everyday. I take him Monday to the pediatrician. So please share advice. Thanks very much!!!

Right, my baby had reflux and so did I through my two pregnancies. So severely in fact that I was hospitalised six times and put on morphine. When my baby boy (now 9 mths) showed signs of reflux I wondered if what worked for me could work for him and it did. The treatment - Metamucil soluble fibre once a day. I gave it to my baby via my breastmilk (don't know about giving it directly - ask your GP if you have any concerns). The reason it works is because reflux can be a symptom of a slow bowel. To avoid overloading the bowel, the stomach holds food rather than passing it on. Then the stomach can become overloaded and then the food has only one way to go > back out the way it came in ie: reflux. The discomfor can also be caused by movements in the bowel. Remember, it's all pretty new down there and there are possibly a few kinks in the works. Once again, soluble fibre can help the bowel clear and get better movements. It can't hurt to try and it could just do the trick. Good luck.

Enfimal (as you may already know) makes a formula with the rice mixed in with it. I haven't used it before, but this might be an option. My son had acid reflux(heartburn) and I found out a strange thing. I had tried a whole bunch of formulas, but nothing worked. Then one day, I decided to do something strange(he was six months old). I decided to put him on Emfimal's regular milk formula. He did great on it! I could not believe it. You are right that every child is different, but I would recommend that you keep trying to feed your son by using the spoon. When you first start spoon feeding him he probably will only take a very small amount.

I've never heard of a baby having colic from the day they are born. Colic is usually diagnosed after other things are ruled out. If he is fighting eating that much it doesn't sound like acid reflux, which is where actual stomach acids come up the esophogus. My baby was put on zantac, and it seemed to help a little, but he still spit up until he was 10 months old. Good luck at the docs on Monday.

It sounds some of the reflux, but I would worry more about the colic, you can get simethicone drops over the counter that are very safe for the colic, my son went through this and HIS formula had to be changed many times he is on Similac Neosure now and he does best. As for the reflux you can get doctor prescribed medicine and I also used an over the counter antacid only a small amount like 1/4 a teaspoon, it needs to be liquid and only contain calicum carbonate, which is safe for babies. How are his bowel movements....you need to get relief so if your doctor won't help take him to someone else....sounds like all of yall need relief....

Is he breast or bottle fed? If he is on formula see about switching him to soy. My son had acid reflux and would projectile vomit several times a day. When I switched him to soy he was barely spitting up after about the 3rd day. Have you tried placing a warm, dry cloth on his tummy. I would take him to a specialist and make sure that there is not something else going on though.

What position is he in when you feed him? Babies with reflux don't fare well when you lie them down to feed them. He doesn't need to sit straight up, but prop him up a good bit when you feed him. Don't let him lay flat for a while after feeding either. If he'll do it, it also helps to prop them up a tiny bit while sleeping. Make sure you burp him thoroughly after every feeding and anytime he seems to be extra gassy. Do you have one of those vibrating bouncer seat things? My first son had colic and that helped him loads. My youngest son loved it too.

Every kid is different. Some calm down if you run the vacuum, others with vibration(car ride, bouncer). You could also try him with the Mylicon gas drops, those worked with my kids. Anything else I might help with, drop me a line.

when baby starts to cry make him "stand up " on your lap by holding his hands ..... he will most likely burp within a minute or so .....
stop with the cereal and give him first carrotts, first peas, first green beans, first squash and first sweet potatos ..
no fruits or meats yet as fruits are just sugar and acid

if drinking formual switch him to Sensitive for fussy and gassy babies

tummy helped my baby dispell gas when he was younger but now it seems to stop hurting him when I stand him up and he burps and immediately quits crying

stop all meds !!

have you check if your son have enlarge tonsils???? My son use to vomit a lot up to his second year and it took forever to feed him every meal (sometimes up to 1 hr). Good thing my wife is very patient.

maybe, your son doesn't like the formula you are giving him. or the formula is not suitable for your son..
