I think this person really needs psychiatric help. Depression disorders have to be treated. I think he is probably doing what he can to cope with life but it might be a bit too much for him.
Sometimes it is a chemical imbalance and medication is needed, however even with medication it is possible he may not get full relief without counseling.
I hope he gets the help he needs and feels better soon.

This person needs to find some outlets to get reconnected with the real world. For a couple of great ideas,
Go volunteer somewhere. Meet new people.
Unplug the computer for a month. They don't need it.
Get some exercise everyday and eat better. This helps SO much.

He needs to be checked out by doctors, he may be clinically depressed, perhaps has social anxiety, and maybe OCD with all those video games, but he could also be a typical teenager going through hormonal changes, or it could be "just a phase", that's why he really needs to get checked out by professionals.

I was the same way in my time as a Teen. I know I had "Social Anxiety" and that sounds like what that guy has. There is help and treatment for it.
And he can get help with stress also.
A Family Physician needs to evaluate him though in order to get the correct diagnosis, and go from there.

This person needs to get out of the house more. If this person is still living with mommy and daddy when he or she reaches 18, the computer and the video games should be confiscated to provide some motivation.

If you say he is lazy maybe we should take your word for it, or maybe not.
Or maybe he is entitled to live life as he wishes as long he is not interfering with other people in any way.
And you also say that he is going through a bad time and does not have any friends and you call him lazy, despite.
Maybe he is a better human being than you and me, who knows.
