You know, they will think you are sucking up, etc. Or do you say it anyways?

if what you are saying isnt totally sincere or the person might not accept what you are saying then why bother saying it.

It happens more often than I'd like to admit. -_-

I'd like to compliment the women around me a bit more, maybe even flirt a little too. Trouble is, the closer you get to the University campus in my town, the more you run into a fairly mean feminist attitude of "don't invade my space, guys suck". It isn't as common as it was back in the late 1980s, early 90s back when I was in college at that university, but still....

Point of it is, I don't necessarily like the idea that I could get slapped or otherwise attacked for just saying something nice to someone, you know? It's not worth the hassle, especially since I'm older these days, and somewhat plain-looking (meaning other people would likely have a "Know your place!" kind of reaction too and not have my back). I don't want people judging me.

So yeah, I keep *really, totally* quiet about it. -_- Which is a shame, as I can remember being more than a bit chatty with the girls when I was a kid, into the early teens too in middle and high school. So it's not like I don't remember doing this.

It's that the stakes are higher, and people are meaner, and folks just get entirely too fixated sometimes on that Alpha-Male thing (only letting the young and studly talk).

Just my two cents. ^_^ Have a star!

One of my good friends recently lost like 20 lbs and started dressing really well and got her hair done very stylishly and began wearing lots of makeup whereas before she was a tomboy and her twin sister was the girly girl. Now we all sort of ignore that she has changed and never talk about it even to compliment her because she gets really defensive and weird about it.

I always compliment people, they may say 'it's sucking up' but it makes a lot of people feel good about themselves.
