That is an extremely hard question to answer because there is no one answer. The range of work for a zoologist is HUGE and can cover anything and everything. Kinda like if someone said they wanted to be a doctor. The range of what a doctor does is huge and it all depends on what type of doctor they want to be.

With zoology though like I said, the range is wide. There are stated, federal and private jobs. You can work in a facility be it a school, zoo, aquarium, rehab center, rescue center, research center. Heck you can even have a job where you work outside 90% of the time.

If she wants to do zoology have faith in her and let her. The work range is so wide that even if she graduates with a zoology degree and hates job "A" there are still jobs "B" through "Z" that she could love. It is not something like accounting where all you will ever do is accounting.

If you are really worried about her though have her look into the type of job that she wants when she is finished with school.

If she truly wants to be a zoologist shes getting herself into a world of academia, experimenting-writing and publishing papers in journals or reports for consultancies/govt departments; basically you're a scientist and that means research in my opinion.....im an environmental scientist i guess but i hate writing reports and papers so ive taken the post of a tech officer and get to do fieldwork and insect identifications, without the paperwork....

Zoologists study animals and their development, behavior, and diseases. They usually are named for the animal group that they study. Ornithologists study birds, mammalogists study mammals, herpetologists study reptiles, and ichthyologists study fish.
