You should never run a air conditioner when it is below 50 degrees outside, you will damage it, as to 65 degrees it will not cool hardly at all because the relative humidity is to low, but should cool a little.

I used to possess a house in Ohio that became merely approximately that undesirable. i could say that it became ineffective whilst the temperature have been given down around freezing. Then we'd get interior the cycle of temperature dropping interior the residing house till it kicked interior the back-up warmth. the residing house could heat to on the threshold of set temperature and the back-up warmth could turn off and the warmth pump could proceed to run on an analogous time as the temperature slowly dropped returned and the cycle repeated. i could no longer have self assurance that working this way became saving me any money, and the thermostat did no longer have a swap to run on back-up warmth strip by myself, so I had to tweek the thermostat to make it run like back-up warmth mode. in case you have a swap place for back-up warmth, I advise you utilize it whilst the temperature falls under usable warmth pump ranges (whilst the warmth pump has to run 24 hours an afternoon to maintain up). or you're probable finding on the could desire to alter out the equipment.

Maybe you are trying to solve the wrong problem. Can you reduce the solar warming of the room with a window awning or extra wall insulation?
