1. Find the period of y = -2 sin (8x + pi/2)

2. Find the period of y = 9/8 sin (- (8 pi x) / 3 )

Could someone please explain these questions? Thanks.

given... y = A sin (kx + b)

the period is 2pi/|k|

thus for the first one...
its pi/4

for the second one...
its 1/4.

8x + pi/2=2pi
8x=3pi/2

x=3pi/16

- (8 pi x) / 3
=(-6pi/3 -2pi)x/3
period is -2pi/3
