I don't think it's so much a matter of people not speaking their minds, but rather not having minds of their own to speak from.

Sometimes it's not a good idea to reveal what's on your mind...that Jim Carrey movie Liar, Liar discusses this. Telling it like it is can be career and social suicide. So a smart person who speaks his or her mind in the wrong place at the wrong time is no longer a smart person. Smart people know when to speak and, more importantly, when not to speak.

I don't think it's the people who don't speak their minds. They're not stupid, they just don't have the courage. It's those who don't use their minds that are stupid.
