I don't know if these are actually sad songs but the general sound of them is rather downbeat:

Misnight Cowboy - Ferrante & Teicher
Love Is Blue - Paul Mauriat
Cast Your Fate To The Wind - Sounds Orchestral. This song is interesting in how it alternates between somber piano and upbeat jazz-styled music.
Love Theme From Romeo & Juliet - Henry Mancini

i laughed. elise as in fur elise? the saddest song? -_-. candle in the wind?!!?! Elton John!?!?!?!? >:(!!! That is DISTASTEFUL!! As with anything by Mozart or Beethoven, I disagree. Just listen to some Debussy. Even the title theme of Ragnarok Online is sadder, or even the outro of Leper Affinity by Opeth.

Casper's Lulluby. I don't even like classical music at all but when I heard this song, especially the piece where the piano begins to play, it just goes straight into your heart.
