I went to get a oil change last week now my car seems as if it doesnt want to go over 55mph.
I was watching the mechanic when he drained the oil ,changed the filter but I didnt see him put any oil back in there. Its like my car doesnt want to pull. While I was there he replaced a link in the rear suspension -that clacking noise is gone.. Im just mad because I JUST got the car fixed and now it seems to be acting up. I had a transmission put in a few months ago so thats not it.(hopefully)
come on mechanic I know you know.
BTW -Im going back to shop on Monday I just had to ask you guys so I can calm my nerves.
Oh another question is oil clear--like vegetable oil?
thanks in advance

What kind of car?
If you had no oil in your engine, your engine would have seized up right after you got it back. A possibility is that he put too heavy/thick oil in, and that may be slowing down your engine speed down a bit; but that would cause problems in more than high gear. Are you noticing any symptoms in any other gear except high gear?
Engine oil is not clear. I guessing you are just getting a basic conventional oil which would be an amber/ light brown color, but still translucent.
Was the transmission you had put in a new transmission, or an used one? If you car doesn't want to go above 55, that could be a transmission problem. Are the RPM's really high when travelling 55? (or is the engine unusually loud?) You may have lost your top end gear if the engine is very loud/high RPM at 55.
I would need some more information to accurately diagnose your problems. Hope this helps.

I like the thicker oil story....not true but interesting. The oil should be a kind of golden color unless it is a synthetic type. The problems you are experiencing may be unrelated and just be due to the car getting to the point where things start to wear out from age and use.

If he didn't put any oil back in you would have made it maybe 100 yards down the street before the engine blew.....and yes, depending on the brand, new clean engine oil is about the same color of vegetable oil.

He is trippin'! If you didn't see him put oil in back in the car then he didn't put oil in the car. Oil is brown/black. Why don't you open the hood, open the oil thingy, stick the oil stick inside, and see if there is oil in there? Lol! It's not hard. In the mean time, I'd stop at a gas station and buy some motor oil. Lol!

yes, oil before it is used, is clear like veggie oil. Use the dip stick under your hood to measure the amount of oil there is. The stick should have a colored handle or some sort of handle, lol. UNDER THE HOOD NEAR THE ENGINE!!!

it may have a plug wire or vacuum hose off.
open the hood at night and with the engine running look for some sparks or arcing(flashing).
Clean oil is pretty clear to tan
