Go for just old books, their much more likely to already be in the public domain. Getting current books for free online is illegal due to copyright laws.

Check your public library. Some public libraries have online e-books that you can check out on your computer and when the due date comes along it automatically sends it back. All you have to do after that is delete the file on your computer.

Get them at New Free Books.

They are legal, in copyright and free.... most from their own authors websites.

and what is wrong w/ old books? there are several sites. i found them by typing "read books on line" and similar terms into the address bar. it is easy to do, and if you had any motivation, you would do just that instead of wasting your time by asking silly questions.
