There are no Internet sites where "crime records" can be searched for free. These records belong, respectively, to the municipal and Federal jurisdictions where they occurred. Police records are public, sort of, except that they are not publicly available until after prosecution has been completed, or, if a charge is not lodged, until the statute of limitations has expired (murder never expires, so unsolved murder data is never "public.") Summary crime statistics are reported to the FBI, which makes some of these summaries available to the public on-line after taking the time to prepare them (sometimes a couple of years!) Law enforcement officials have access to the online databases of other agencies as well as their own, but these resources require a login (usually a jurisdiction ID.)

Bottom line: it is expensive to extract "public" crime records from their normal locations and format them for public access. No governmental agency pays for this. The providers who offer this service on-line need to recoup their costs, at least. No free lunches here.

Unfortunaly alot of climinal record can only be viewed on line if you pay for the privilige and convienance. If you go to the public records division of the city or town you live in you can usually get what you want. However you may have to answer some questions as to why you want to see those records.
