take it by auto zone and let them scan the computer on it to see if any trouble codes come up on it,that will give you a lot better of an idea of what is wrong with it,then you,ll at least have a code to work with, good luck with it.

Recheck the oil level on your dipstick again just to make sure your oil shows full. Then have the error codes read out from your computer at an AutoZone store near you. Otherwise you'll have to take it into a repair shop to have they diagnose the check engine light trouble codes. It's probably a coincidence. You could go back to the shop that changed the oil and see what they say. If any red dash lamp comes on, you need to pull into a repair shop immediately. You can drive the car to the repair shop with a yellow check engine light on.

One of the sensor's controlling the engine is malfunctioning. If the engine still runs, have a mechanic do a diagnostic scan for $40-60 and he can tell you which sensor. It's not dangourous, but it won't run as efficiently and will start wasting gas. Before you do it,take a quick look under the hood to see if you pulled a wire loose,or loosened a connection.Older wiring shorts out easily, and will give false readings.

check engine light is sometimes a computer related light that turns on after so many miles and most have to be turned off in a particular way, if not can be something mechanical like spark plugs or something not running right, my advice would take to a mechanic. But all in all not dangerous but probably don't want to run like that for a long time

Your transmission dip stick has nothing to do with your engine light. Most likely you've got an O2 sensor going bad or something.Take it by an auto parts store and see if they will put an analizer on your car and see what codes it has on the computer.Even if the light 's not on it should still be listed in the history.

You can go to Auto Zone and they have the machine that tells why the light came on. There is about a million things that can make them come on. If you don't live by a AutoZone(FREE) Call around. I wouldn't pay more then five dollars to find out. Nothing on the trans stick causes the light to come on.

Sometimes Auto Zone will run a Free diagnostic. If not I would recommend getting one anyways. A check engine light could mean anything really!!!

I am not a mechanic, but my understanding, often the engine light comes on for emissions issues. If it starts to flash you have a problem and need to get it looked at asap. Again, i am not a mechanic but have worked in the auto industry, i hope this helped.

Hmmm. You probably pkked the probe through the transmission wall. Better get it looked at, this could cause a leak that dries out your transmission and then you wold be in real trouble.
Can be fixed for about $300 dollars
