What benefits do you see to the use of APA formatting?

They just standardize the formatting of the document so that everyone is doing it the same way. Not unlike saying "we all use Microsoft Word" in order to make sure everyone can open the file. It's just a method of standardization.

The biggest advantage to APA is that most academic journals require your submission be in APA format. I find it easier than MLA or Turabian, but I'm accustomed to APA.

well, if you wanna others understand your text , your chart, your figure, your table, your reference clearly, you must obey some rules, one of the rules are apa style,
and ,if your wanna send your thesis to some journals for publication, maybe they wanna your text be formated according to a specified format, much as apa
. apa. mla are some of the rule for formalating texts.
