Mat W - Of course you are right from the American point of view. I just wish the USA government would stop treating the rest of the world like idiots by trying to claim that the USA is only interested in nuking for peace.
If the USA didn't have nukes they would not be in Iraq or threatening Iran now and I think that would be a good thing.

Conservative. You 'allow' the UK to have nukes??? They were developed independantly of the US in 1952 so short of nuking your WW@ allai what could you do about it. The UK has them with or without your permission.
What do you think gives the USA the right to dictate and 'allow' what other countires do?

Self-preservation. If they don't have nukes, they can't nuke us. And until they stop making nukes, they can nuke us, and if they nuke us ans someone is still alive, we want to be able to get back

In truth, we have no problems with responsible non-belligerant nations having nukes. Notice no one ever complains about France or Britain ever having nukes?
However when you get countries that routinely threaten to use nukes if they get them, such as Iran saying they will wipe Israel off the map, or N. Korea saying we'll all die in a nuclear fire, it can be a bit troubling.

Let me get this straight.
Either you want all the other countries to have nukes. In which case you are nuts.
Or
You want us to give ours up since the "new" ones we make do not even begin to replace the ones we have taken out of service.
To put it another way. You are walking through a dangerous part of town and you have a gun. You either:
Want to give everyone else in the neighborhood a gun.
OR
Want to take all the bullets out of your gun.
It just doesn't make good sense to me.

Lets see nuclear power is the most powerful thing the human race has ever invented.
Used correctly it can light millions of homes safely and cheaply for many years.
When used in a deterrent fashion it can keep countries many times you size and strength from invading you.
When mishandled it can accidentally do a Chernobyl size accident and kill thousands of your own innocent citizens.
When a weapon is used aggressively it can wipe out millions of innocent people and make an area uninhabitable for many many years.
Did you really not understand this?
Hiroshima and Nagasaki had it coming.

AIPAC bought and sold Evangelical charlatans to pursue the lying agenda of FEAR ... Repukes through installed King Dubya supported in every turn to the expense of American lives and US tax dollars!

Think about it. Whether they are right or not I prefer to live in a country that has the nukes and not one that doesn't!

First of all, we allow our allies (Britain, France) to have nukes. We are not opposed to them having nukes. But, we are opposed to our enemies (North Korea, Iran, Russia) having nukes.
