Easy one.
1) No QB.
2) No RB.
3) No WRs.
4) O-Line sucks
5) Their D is pathetic especially their secondary. It was exposed last year and there was no improvement.
6) Most of Ty Willingham's recruits have left (i.e. the talented ones).
7) No depth because the younger players were not getting game time.
8) Notre Dame doesn't attract the talent like it use to.
9) They play a pretty tough schedule.
10) Poor coaching.

Notre Dame isn't good for all of the above reasons mentioned.
Bob Davie and Willingham were both good coaches at Notre Dame after Holtz they just never won it all while they were there. I think Notre Dame would do cartwheels to have either of those 2 guys back though and seeing how bad they are now shows what a mistake firing Willingham really was.

Well Notre Dame is one of the toughest places to play because everyone is watching you and if you make one mistake the whole nation is on you and the media goes ballistic. That's what it's like if your a freshman starting quarterback. It was just bad timing for Notre Dame. They'd be well off with a junior or even a sophomore, but a freshman for the Irish is too much to handle.

First of all, I'm a Notre Dame fan, too.
I think the main reason they suck now is they don't have Quinn. He's really the only great talent they lost--Samardzija is playing baseball, McKnight and Walker went undrafted.
They just can't seem to move the ball, but as Clausen develops, they'll get better.

Who ever gave lard butt Weiss the contract extension needs to be fired. The mystique is gone from ND. It's no longer a school kids are dying to play for, why would they? ND will not go to a bowl game, it will be harder to recruit for that reason, their season will end earlier than usual because of no bowl game and they'll be worse next year because of it. The way they fire coaches doesn't do them any good. A kid going to college to play football wants to know who the coach will be, at ND who knows?
Charlie is full of himself, what a genius he is. How can he inspire players to get in shape? Just look at him!
Notre Dame lost to Navy because of the genius' call to go for a first down on 4th and 8 with 45 seconds left, when a field goal would have won the game. What kind of moron call was that? Charlie Weiss is not head coach material.

They have been on a long slide down for a number of years. Lou Holtz was their last good coach.

The coach is not into the game for whatever reason. He looks bored.

They hired the wrong coach.
They are not recruiting the best players.
Their academic standards prevent them from recruiting many great atheletes.
