You're not only talking hundreds of dollars, but thousands. Display swords are common. And most of them will probably be made in China or Taiwan. If you're thinking Samurai, I think you're way over your head. There will be tough export laws on taking such things out of the country.

A real sword called "Katana" in Japanese is a quite expensive (more than 10,000 USD) and cannot be sold to anybody. If you want to buy it, you need to get a license from Government. A fake sword which edge is dull and just for a display use is sold around sightseeing places such as Asakusa, Tsukiji, Nihonbashi etc. Or you can find a department store as souniors. This kind of sword costs around a few hundred $ to a few thousand $. Some fake one is sold with a sword case which is sticked to sword and can not be seen inside.

a true katana will be hard to come by and pretty impossible to export out of the country. starting prices begin in the thousands. however, numerous decorative/no blade edge swords are available.
