recessive genes are blue eyes. To explain this in further detail, we need to use Punnet Squares. These show the percentages between dominant and recessive genes. The amount of pigment in the eye effects the brightness of the blue. blue x blue= pure blue

OCA2 (synonyms bey2, EYCL3) codes for a protein that helps give hair, skin and eyes their colour. In eyes it is either brown or blue.
EYCL1/Gey - codes for the green or blue eye color.
EYCL2 also codes for brown.

To have bright blue you would need OCA2 for blue AND EYCL1 for blue but both of these are recessive.
If both parent are carriers of the requisite recessives there is
1/16 chance to inherit both.

Here is a fun site to play with that lets you see the effect of the genes; Eye Color Calculator.

blue eyes, to have them you need 2 recessive genes, this can be from someone with brown eyes and one who has blue, the only thing IMPOSSIBLE is a brown eyed kid IF ~~~~both parents have blue eyes or green eyes. This isn't possible. Only thing is TWO LIGHT EYED PARENTS CANNOT HAVE A BROWN EYED BABY! 2 ressesives make a recessive. Brown eyed person can hold a dominate and a recessive. blue and green are recessive and brown is dominant. Sooooooooooooooo Bl+Br= Bl or Gr or Br~~~~
Br + Br= Bl ,Gr or Br.~~~~ Gr +Bl=Gr or Bl NOT BROWN EVER!
