Liberal sees positive change as good.
In this instance, bias is believing that the above is true.
Both sides of the fence are equally guilty of being biased.

Whenever a conservative wants to complain about something in the news that makes conservatives look bad, they usually blame liberal bias. That is, most news reporters are liberals (as opposed to conservatives) and that their opinions show through in their news reporting, which is supposed to be objective.
Definitions: Liberal means opposite of conservative. Bias means being subjective when you're supposed to be objective.
Do I believe there is a liberal bias? Not sure. It would not surprise me if liberals outnumber conservatives in the media, simply because liberals and journalists tend to share some personality traits, e.g. creativity, for which conservatives have a deficiency.
And I believe that it is impossible to write anything with 100% objectivity. The words you choose when writing will inevitably reveal some bias, no matter how hard you try to avoid it.
But I believe most journalists make a reasonable attempt to be objective. In fact, based on my experience, they are more likely to be objective than they are to be factual. They will mix up the facts, but be pretty unbiased about reporting them.

Liberal: a left-leaning (loosely used) person/object. Normally characterized by large-government, increased taxation, more "progressive" laws focussed on equal rights, etc...
Bias: When a closed-minded/dogmatic view overshadows one's thoughts/message.
Are they related? Just as much as Conservative and Bias. You can't really escape a bias.

A liberal wants peace on earth, health and freedom for all humankind, and everyone should get a puppy. Bias is when Rush Limbaugh says if a liberal wants it, "I'm against it".

Liberal is a political belief system that preaches changing current beliefs and pursuing progressive policies.
Bias is being against something and showing it.
The best example I can give as to how they relate is the mainstream media.

Liberal and Bias not the same.
Bias applies to any person who takes a view based on some belief or experience.
Liberal is someone who takes positions that are based on emotion and not rational. An example was a very liberal woman who wanted the US to invade Afghanistan to liberate the women oppressed by the Taliban, but when 9-11 happened and their was a National Security reason to invade she was now against it because the reason didn't feel right.
Another thing with Liberals is intention is better than actions.
Example Kerry campaigned on an issue, but when the vote came up he was out of town and it failed by one vote, but it was okay because his intention was to support it.

Liberal: A person that feels that it is the governments role to right all socioeconomic wrongs, and bring about equality of outcome. In otherwords, using the governments power of taxation and force, to make everyone equal, economically and socially.
Bias: The inability to be totally objective and fair, by letting your own feelings and beliefs leak into whatever you are doing.

The term "liberal bias" is most often used to refer to the observable friendly bias that much of the old school media has toward the democratic/liberal/socialist party. A clear example is Dan Rather's attempt to influence the outcome of the presidential election by airing a story using phony documents intended to harm George Bush. A real journalist would report facts, not invent them to further his ideals and bias.
