I think that war tends to be more entertaining to some people, but to me peace is more satisfying. I say this because the thought of people working together makes the world seem like a better place. However, even though peace is good we wouldn't be able to move forward and learn without war.

There must be opposition in all things in order to progress in life. When I first thought on this question I thought of the inner war or inner peace within myself. That being the case I find peace much more satisfying. I find that when I am at war within myself I am depressed, withdrawn, no hope for the future. When I am at peace within myself anything is possible, I feel invinsible. Therefore I believe this to be true with the world. Life would be much more satisfying if we were all at peace. But in order to truly be at peace there has to first be opposition, a time of learning and growth. War is never satisfying, but the end result, the peace that follows, the growth, the triumph, is truly the greatest satisfaction.

Tolstoy's War and Peace was really "satisfying" reading for me but in my personal life, Peace pervails. War, unfortunately, is the result of some people's anomalous minds.

Satisfaction is in attaining. So, by definition, one must be doing something unpleasant - and satisfaction lies in having the unpleasantness go away.
Therefore, War would be more satisfying - as when it is over, you realise that you have attained peace. If you were always living in peace, why would you be satisfied if you have no goal to work for?

Most will say peace, but in 4,000 years of known Western History, there have only been 300 years of relative calm without war. 200 of those years came under the Roman Empire the most warlike of all western civilizations. But of course western history was roman history of awhile.
We want peace, but war is in our nature. Both are equally satisfying for you cannot have peace or war for too long.

Satisfaction is rooted in desire, so, essentially, this question is really asking which do I desire more. Obviously, I think we all desire peace, so then, peace is more satisfying. Any desire we might have for war is generally morivated by anger or fear and thus, even when "satisfying" is still a generally empty satisfaction.

There has always been war, and no peace at all. What we think as a period of peace is but a period of preparation for another war. It is during this "period of peace" that nations create their weapons of destruction. There is no true peace in this world.

If you are referring to the way countries fight, I would say peace. War is the most idiotic, senselessly old-fashioned way to resolve conflicts. Seriously, nations send huge groups of people to kill each other until one surrenders? Why is it that we are so set in our ways that we cannot change the way we disagree? Within a country, no one settles conflicts by killing, we settle conflicts in a trial or in a vote.
However, there cannot exist a society in which there wasn't at least one person who disagreed. There will always be conflicts, and a "war," not repression, is necessary to resolve those issues. Granted, we should alwas strive to make our everyday "wars" helpful to everyone and as short and conclusive as possible, but the freedom to voice your opinion, to wage war, is how we improve our society.

In what respect? Materially, emotionally, spiritually?
I've never participated in a war, but from what I have read, many find the camaraderie and excitement stimulating to such a point that they miss it when it is gone.
It is hard to find that kind of commitment and stimulation in peace.

Peace is good, but it is what you come home to. War is why you get up in the morning. It is what causes you to define and stand up for what you believe in. Its your purpose. I fight for my family. I fight for my rights. I battle the temptations in life that may drag me down and keep me from being all that I can be. I fight for my property. Then I come home to the peace of my family and home. They are equally satisfying, one represents my purpose, and one represents rest from my purpose. It applies to me and my family, it applies internationally.
