dude you read my mind. I have the exact same problem.Every year i promiss to myself i will do better. But end up with a c.
I personaly think the main problem is lazyness. You may seem that you are working hard but at times you get lazzy. Maybe skip a homework or two. Or when a teacher gives back your test for test corrections you dont do it. Or talk in class. Maybe you dont talk alot but it always seems that you talk only when the teacher is looking. All thees little things add up and can hurt you.

Another reason is that your teacher either hates you or is too strict. Example One year i got an A+ in english all year. Next year only D and i tried as hard as last year.
This year i got a bit better I got: A,A-,B-,B-
Guess what the last too classes the teachers are strict. But the first two even though they are honor classes the teachers rule so i got a better grade.

it is good that you are asking for help. You might want to do the following:

speak to your teachers privately and ask for their suggestions

pay close attention in class

participate in class

ask questions when you do not understand something

take good class notes

attend extra help classes if available

volunteer for extra credit work

you can get free excellent tutoring on line at pathwelp.com and jiskha.com

do you homework carefully and well

You will find below suggestions on how to do your homework smarter and better.

1. Have all of your materials ready and in the place that you are going to study.

3. Study when its quiet. No music, no TV, No headphones, no nothing.

4. Do your most difficult subject fist or else you may never get to it.

5. Keep a calendar so that you know when a project is due or a test is going to be given.

6. Vocabulary is very important. Words have different meanings. You need to know the meaning for the subject that you are taking.

7. Study the relationship of things. How is the topic that you studied related to the unit that you are studying?

8. Your textbook has hints for you. Many books have important words or phrases in darkened or colored type, make sure that you know them thoroughly.

It could be that it is not explained right or you don't understand the subject that well. One thing I have recommended to many students, and they have all thanked me for it, is to go to a health food store and get what is called DMAE. This is a natural substance with no side effects but it will increase your memory and concentration. This only costs about $5.00 or so most places but you will see your concentration and memory improve and that may help. Then either ask for help or use your search engine and you will find help in almost everything somewhere on line. Good Luck to you!!
