Yes, it did. I about died when my 15 y/o son was killed. God gave me strength to get through it, which made me a stronger person. That same strength has gotten me through a divorce & some other things.

I would have vehemently argued against this concept at the time. I was suffering mentally and physically and I couldn't imagine ever getting any "good" out of it. But yes, once the situation is resolved, and enough years have passed that the memory is no longer strong and hurtful...yes. I can honestly say that going through that has only made me stronger and I am less selfish than I was, more compassionate to my fellow man.

Bull crap...all too often, that which did not kill you left you impaired! Stronger? Probably not. Wiser? Probably yes, but then again, I see many people repeat the same actions over and over, expecting different results everytime...so in general, I would say, anything we survive leaves us pretty much the same...near death experiences tend to make us more aware of life ....for a short time, and then it is back to business as usual. Time seems to be the biggest changer of the mind more than anything. And I think it relates more to less energy than any other one thing. Yes, we no longer put our finger in a flame to see how it feels, we no longer test a plug to see if it is live with our hands, but in general, I think that little changes..it is our basic personality that lives on. A man who has a heart attack and survives, given time, will be back to the same actions as he was before he had one....that which we survive makes us think we are Superman! Goldwing

If anyone should be out on another planet, with all that has happened, it should be me. But never, never, would I regret one moment, good or bad or even worse than bad. I can still do some Jane Fonda exercises, I can still touch my toes, and do pelvic isolation, (dancing movements FOLKS!).
But most of all, I have learnt the wisdom of when to be quiet and when to talk. I am stronger, I am more intuitive, more in touch with politics, and I am more sensitive to the needs and hurts of others. And I am still learning.

You know Wick !!! That is something my son always said. He'd say "Don't worry Mom, That which doesn't kill you will only make you stronger". And he was right !!! He was talking about himself at the time but it is true !!! I'm so strong that nothing is ever going to get me down again !!!

I was verbally abused for 25 yrs! Yes, it's true!
One day I picked up the computer threw it across the room, grabbed his brand new $150.00 cell phone and snapped it in half. I stood up real tall (5 ft worth) looked him in the eye and said "No More"
Nothing to it, easy as pie and it worked! It didn't kill me but almost got him! I'm a stronger person to this day.

Yes!! My dad died in 1983. My husband in 1984 and my Mother in 1987. I drank and drugged so much for a couple of years after my Mother's death that I don't know how I survived. But, I am definitely stronger and happy now. I once was lost, but now I am found.

Without the "bad" times, you would never be able to appreciate the good ones.
Strong people will overcome adversity and come out the other end a better person, more self-assured.
How dull life would be if everything was perfect, right?

Most definitely - it almost did kill me, but thankfully I survived and came out stronger than I would ever thought. In addition it taught me so many things that have eased my life!
