A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties."

-- Harry Truman

We all need to realize that things really aren't that bad.

Many people have a much worse life than we do.

Starting today, no more griping and complaining.

Let's all appreciate our lives.

Let's find ways to create new opportunities.

Let's all make the best of what we have!

There is a difference between pessimism and reality, it is called the truth.

I was raised a pessimist, who strives to overcome that and be an optimist, but sometimes it is real hard.

To walk through life blindly optimistic, is to invite doom. If you refuse to see reality because it is not a happy thought, you fail to plan and then if the worst happens, you are in no way prepared.

So, I prefer to believe I am a realist. Sorry if my realism is perceived as pessimism, but at least I will be ready.

Now your question was quite pessimistic - I wasn't even thinking things were bad, and there you go and put that thought out there - why?

Think on it.
