DNA is broken up into purines and pyrimidines, which are absorbed. Legumes are high in purines, and that why people with gout avoid legumes.

The DNA gets digested along with the rest of the plant. You break it up into its components (sugar, phosphate, and base) with pancreatic digestive enzymes, absorb them into the bloodstream in the intestine, and transport them to the liver. Once in the liver you can do all sorts of things with them.

You certainly do not just absorb the DNA in a functional form.
