To me it’s inconsequential; helping someone is its own reward.

To an extent, yes.

I work my butt off. I want people important to me to know that I am trying my best.

However, I don't need awards or special attention.

Recognition of efforts is also inconsequential to me. Except when somebody else is undeservedly taking the credit. In that case, I step forward. But not for the recognition - - - I would only do it because I can not tolerate such a lie.

Sometimes, recognitions help me do better at things. It makes me feel happy too knowing that others notice my efforts. Eitherway, depending on the situation or events, recognitions don't matter as long as I did my part for myself and others.

nooooooo.
this was part of a seminar i once had in english class last year..

for example: if a child is always rewarded (or in this case, recognized) for his good deed then he will only do the good deed for the sake of the reward (or recognition)

While we may not want the all-out accolade and the attention, it's human nature to want to be acknowledged at least. A simple "thank you" would suffice. In my case, it's always nice to know that someone appreciates my efforts. And no, they need not throw a parade in my honor. LOL

Not necessarily, I know that I did mt best and if unrecognized, it does not matter. It jusr creates jralousy to others who are underperformers. It makes my life misreable than happy. Better to remain humble. The real reward is when you are gone.

I just want them to recognize how hard I worked for something... but I don't need a reward, all I want is appreciation...

It's just like a big bonus, I will be very happy to receive it. But knowing I did my best is good enough.

Doing something good is enough to make me happy. If people would recognize them, then that'll be a bonus.

If someone says to me "you did a good job!" or "nice job!" or "thank you!"....that's all I need to hear or get but if someone gives me something for my effort, that's a bonus.
