I never supported this war. Justice requires some provocation. Without some act to justify war, there is no reason for it. That is the case here. Actually, there IS a very good reason for this war. Money.
Imagine having the power to ship billions of dollars of cash into the desert with ZERO accountability. Look at the hundreds of billions Bush has stimulated our economy through deficit spending on this war our grandchildren will continue paying for, if our nation survives that long.
The first american gulf war could probably have been avoided, but once Saddam invaded Kuwait George H. W. Bush did the right thing in repelling that invasion and punishing his army. Saddam never regained the strength he had possessed, and never again represented a threat to his neighbors or to us.
A lot of americans were deceived into supporting this war. The Downing Street memo shows that the facts were fixed on policy. Bush himself declared in a speech PRIOR to his election that Saddam was sitting on US oil reserves and for that reason needed to be removed. Dick Cheney's private energy task force likely conferred on Iraq war plans, long before 9/11 (which Saddam had nothing to do with).
750,000 Iraqis have died so that Bush could transfer funds from the future US treasury reserves into private hands. Half a trillion so far, expected to top a trillion before we've had enough.
The gambler's fallacy is to keep pouring good money after bad. When you stick your hand into a fire pit, the one burning question facing you is, "how long do you intend to leave it in there?"

Unfortunately, due to the system of civilization and government which has been created and manipuilated to this end, there is no simple way out.
This is about oil, power, which equals money.
Do not get fooled by the Republican-Democrat flip flop, they are all the same and working together, when it comes to this issue.
Think about this......the USA has set up foot hold bases all over the world and has maintained and occupied them for decades. During WWII, we put bases in Germany, Japan, we are still there....still in Korea, Guam, Italy etc. etc. there is a USA military base on every continent in the world, except Antartica.
The Pentagon's calculation that it owns or rents 702 bases in about 130 countries -- over and above the 6,000 bases in the United States -- is a gross underestimate because it fails to include installations in such places as Kosovo and Bosnia, as well as Iraq and Afghanistan, and secret installations in Israel, Australia,Diego Garcia and England, among others.

My condolences to you and your family for your loss. Your brother only dies in vain if we pull out of this war to soon, if we leave now your brother died for nothing at all, however if we stay and we finish the job that we started your brother gave his life for the benefit of two nations, the United States of America and a free and democratic country of Iraq.
I know that it is not easy to lose a brother, I lost my oldest brother two years ago (June 2005) the circumstances were different as my brother died of a heart attack but his death was truly in vain because it could have been prevented had he not let his pride get in the way and he had gone to the doctor, he was to proud to ask for help and it cost him his life.
While it is true that you can not support your loved ones once they are gone, you can support what their life meant to their families and their friends, what about the friends he had in the service, what about how your brother felt about what he was doing for his country.
I pray that our soldiers are kept safe and are allowed to return home and I pray that God gives the families of those that he has called home his grace to accept his will.
Your brother was and still is a brave man, he gave everything he had to offer our country for something he believed in.
There is a plaque at the Vietnam Memorial that says
"All gave some, some gave all"
I can offer no more than my prayers and deepest gratitude to your brother, but please don't let his death be in vain.

I am so sorry about your brother. Mine survived Vietnam (sort of) if you can call having his head f**ked up making him a horses @$$ a survival bonus. He was a Marine stationed near the capital. Our politicians has sold us out-lock stock and barrel to the big business interests. I would love to see a change. A unified tax strike maybe? Why pay them when they no longer represent our interests?

So basically you supported the war as long as it was someone else's family that was getting killed. As soon as you have to make any personal sacrifices, you're ready to quit. Before your brother was supposedly killed, what did you give up, what part of your daily life was changed by the war?

sorry about your brother but it also shows your hypocrisy. You still are a hypocrite who didn't mention, even once, thousands of innocent people dying in Iraq but are simply being selfish.
The soldiers know what can happen in their job before they even take it. They somewhat choose their future.
The f$king loser suicide bombers know too and they fully choose their future.
But the innocent kids, men and women dying because of the above two have know choice. They are the true victims.
So, if you can't have sympathy for those the war will go on.

The government's stubborn. You'll have to wait until someone opposed to the war is in office. That or wait until the insurgency wins, which is going to be soon.
