It is totally dependent upon what you hope to major in and plan a career for your future.
Yes, the main ASU campus is a huge party school. But if you are interested in a smaller atmosphere, ASU also has the East (Polytechnic), West, and Phoenix campuses. Much smaller and still offer a quality education.
I am currently in a Graduate program at the East campus and the ASU East program has a top notch aviation/aeronautical training program and an awesome Technology program.
There are pros & cons to attending any university. Discuss all your options with your guidance counselor. Visit the campuses that you can travel to, or request a DVD tour from universities you can't visit in person.
Good luck!

University of Arizona is a great school for languages and area studies (in my experience of research) I'm not too sure about Arizona State University, aside from it being more of a social school :P The best engineering school in the US in my opinion is UCSD or University of California San Diego, they're top in engineering and not extremely hard to get into. Good luck.

I went to ASU for a year and it was the worst experience of my life. It's a total party school, and a complete joke. I had a higher GPA than I did in high school and I went to about 40% of my classes first semester, and 10% my second. The students are more or less the same person multiplied by 60,000. I lived in one of the "quiet" dorms and my room constantly smelled like pot and I was always being woken up by my upstairs neighbor having a party.
So, if you are a total frat boy and think drunk driving's fun, ASU is the place for you. I was told all year long "join some groups, you'll find people you like". No. No you don't. You find, as I said before, the same person, multiplied by 60,000. I transferred to Kent State and it was probably the best decision I ever made. It's nice being in a real college and not high school, part II.
I know this'll get down-voted by all the drunk bros and Paris Hilton clones, but there you have it. If you don't have to become like everyone else to make friends, you'll be miserable in ASU.
Scenery's nice though, and I'll miss the weather.

I agree, it depends largely on what you are going to school for. ASU has a fantastic business school and lots of choices. It is a pretty laid back school and if you don't want the party scene and actually want to pay attention to your studies instead of worrying about what club to go to on Thursday night, try ASU West or ASu East (the names have changed, but they are much more 'adult' focused) with flexible class times and options.

What another university? In Arizona, ASU is the best, it is very laid back, party university, close to many things.

Depends what for! ASU is superb, for example, in engineering and business. Other universities are stronger at other things. And, it depends on how you feel about the climate - if you don't like desert heat, ASU isn't for you.

ASU is great except for the fraternities and sororities which nobody cares about anyways.
